2/20/06: Jean Houston has become suddenly very ill —
Barbara Marx Hubbard is replacing her!

We need to inform you that Jean Houston has cancelled her engagement with WOW for the 2006 conference due to serious illness. We send her our deepest wishes for healing and know that she truly wishes she could be here to celebrate with us and to lead her workshops. We are excited to share with you that Jean’s old friend and colleague Barbara Marx Hubbard is going to attend in her place and present her brand new work on the feminine consciousness with us. We’ll be the first to hear it at the conference! Barbara expressed how Jean’s topics were right up her alley, so we’ve found the perfect substitute. And, in addition to her presence, we are thrilled that Jean’s Mystery School teaching partner, Peggy Rubin, will be with us on opening night for the lecture.

Thursday, February 23rd, 7:30 p.m.
$15 members $20 Non members
Open to men and women. Opening music led by Kimberly Carter.
(Opening ceremonies are from 6:00 - 6:45 p.m., for women only)

Barbara Marx Hubbard and Peggy Rubin:
Drawing Sustenance from the Well of Woman’s Psyche

...and what this will mean for a world in transition. With the advent of the planetary person we are at a unique place of opportunity for human and cultural potentiation. This involves a new vision based on perspectives of global interdependence and a cross-cultural sharing of what it means to be human. We are citizens in a new cosmos which, on a global scale, is in a “whole system transition.” A more holistic way of knowing ourselves is emerging -- an ecological ethic, along with a new partnership between men and women, in which the human acts in partnership with Nature to bring about more symbiotic ecological relationships.

Barbara Marx Hubbard is a communicator of humanity's potential to evolve. As an author, speaker, social innovator and spiritual pioneer, she has established the new field of conscious evolution. Her evolutionary perspective suggests a way through our global crises toward an immeasurable future. In 1984 her name was placed in nomination for the Vice Presidency of the United States on the Democratic ticket suggesting a Peace Room in the White House to scan for, map, connect, and communicate what is working in the world.

In 2005 Barbara received a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Association for Global New Thought and the first Peace Builder Award presented by The Peace Alliance in Washington, DC.

Her new DVD Video Series entitled, Humanity Ascending: A Feminine Voice of Conscious Evolution is designed to place the “meme” of conscious evolution into the global mind. It offers a comprehensive understanding of conscious evolution self and social.

Barbara has been instrumental in the founding of such important organizations as The World Future Society, New Dimensions Radio, Global Family, Women of Vision in Action, the Foundation for the Future and the Association for Global New Thought.

Her books include , Conscious Evolution: Awakening the Power of Our Social Potential, Emergence: The Shift from Ego to Essence, The Evolutionary Journey, The Hunger of Eve and Revelation.

Peggy RubinMargaret Nash (Peggy) Rubin is Founding Director of the Center for Sacred Theatre in Ashland, Oregon, where she creates workshops in Living Life as Sacred Theatre, and Sacred Studies of the Divine Feminine. She is also the principal teaching associate of Jean Houston, Ph.D., in Dr. Houston’s worldwide multicultural transformational work and in her schools of spiritual studies, as well as a member of the core faculty of the School for Social Artistry, an intensive leadership training program. Working with Jean Houston, Peggy Rubin has presented classes, workshops and trainings all over the world.

Peggy will bring an exciting, dynamic presence to the Thursday evening event in an interactive performance with the audience.

A message from Jean:

For those who do not know Peggy, she has been my working partner for over 20 years. She and I are a team, creating and co-teaching all seminars. But Peggy brings something special that is so rare, so beautiful, that hearts and souls and minds are awakened and deepened by the depth and luminous quality of her teaching and the sheer power of her dramatic performance. A great classical actress, she is not only a fine scholar, but an evocateur of the possible, a true midwife of souls, with a sensitivity that calls forth the possibilities inherent in each person. It will be an incandescent occasion. If I were not so sick in bed with this miserable pneumonia, I'd be in the audience also.

Please come as planned and bring an open heart and mind. It will be an inspiring time and we know that Jean would like you all to support WOW just as you would if she could be with us in person. She will be with us in spirit and knows what a joy Barbara will be for those of you attending her workshop.

The session will be based on Christina’s well known books, especially The Seven Whispers, Spiritual Practice for Times Like These.
