Starhawk Let it Begin Now "Another world is possible!"

Starhawk

This is the rallying cry of the Global Justice movement, and it is also the inspirational belief of those who seek to create a society based on compassion, balance, and love for the earth from a spiritual as well as a political base. How do we envision that world, and what are the tools and insights we need to bring it about? Can we be active in the political arena without losing touch with our spirit? Can we learn to bring healing, joy, celebration, and empowerment into the realm of action? And for those who have been activists, how do we feed our spirits, avoid burnout and despair, and renew our courage? We explore the tools of magic, "the art of changing consciousness at will", and use ritual and celebration to help us link the worlds of contemplation and action.

Starhawk is one of the most respected voices in modern earth-based spirituality. She is also well-known as a global justice activist and organizer, whose work and writings have inspired many to action. She is the author or coauthor of ten books, including The Spiral Dance: A Rebirth of the Ancient Religion of the Great Goddess, long considered the essential text for the Neo-Pagan movement, and the now-classic ecotopian novel The Fifth Sacred Thing. Starhawk's newest book is The Earth Path: Grounding Your Spirit in the Rhythms of Nature.

Libby Roderick
Reclaiming our Thinking as Women

Libby Roderick

Women are inherently brilliant thinkers. We tend to be geniuses at win-win relationships, which is the most important skill our world needs to develop at this juncture in history. Our thinking forms the basis of our decisions and actions, our writing and speaking, the way we are in the world. But most of us grow up with messages that trivialize or invalidate our thinking, so we end up feeling we can't think, we're stupid, too emotional, too idealistic, or overly concerned with trivial issues. Or we just go blank at key moments! This conditioning can be unlearned and our clear, flexible thinking reclaimed. Come join us!

Libby is an internationally acclaimed singer, songwriter, poet, activist, teacher and lifelong Alaskan. She is an exhilarating performer who offers a remarkable blend of passionate music, wry humor and incisive commentary on social and personal issues. Her folk classic, "How Could Anyone", is sung around the globe, and has been translated into several languages and recorded by many artists.

The surprising power and depth of her music and the humor and spontaneity of her performances have attracted large and enthusiastic audiences across the continent and fans all over the world. Her six recordings have received extensive airplay on Earth and, in 2003, NASA played her song "Dig Down Deep" on the planet Mars as encouragement to the robot "Spirit." Libby is also a faculty member of the Institute for Deep Ecology.
