WORK EXCHANGE & SCHOLARSHIPS


Work Exchange and Scholarships are available to women who desire to attend the 2010 Women of Wisdom Conference, but are experiencing financial hardships.


We ask that all women who desire to participate in WOW, will willingly offer their time and skills as an exchange for their participation. There are a variety of jobs that need to be done in order for the Conference to run smoothly, these jobs are filled 100% by volunteers. Your time and energy are relied upon and once your Work Exchange assignment is agreed upon, we ask that you abide by your commitment and notify the volunteer coordinator of any changes right away. Scholarships are available for those who are unable physically to help out at the conference, and need the financial assistance.

We encourage you to send in your application, along with your workshop registration form, as soon as possible. Work shifts begin the week of January 11th. Submission of an application does not guarantee a position.

Your Work Exchange options are:


Registration Work - In exchange for complimentary tuition to the conference a commitment of one 4-hour shift per week before the conference for 4 weeks and 8 hours during the conference is necessary. As we need the trained registration volunteers to help out at the registration desk during the conference, you are an important part of our conference. These hours will be scheduled around your workshop choices. We might not be able to accommodate all your requests due to the limitation of size of some of the workshops. So it’s important to rank your choices by priority.


General Work Exchange– In exchange for working at Women of Wisdom if you would like to attend a half-day workshop you must work 4 hours. For full day workshops 10 – 12 hours of Work Exchange is required (depending on Membership). When you support evening lectures (assisting with set up, break down, selling tickets and merchandise) you receive a free ticket for that evening’s program. Any hours worked during an evening event cannot be carried over to workshop costs. General Work Exchange is to be done during conference set up, during the conference, or post conference work, not before, unless prior agreement is made.


Angel Volunteer - Do you have extra time that you would like to offer to WOW? An Angel Volunteer is a woman who offers up her gifts and time with the true spirit of volunteerism. If you would like to be an Angel please send your availability to the volunteer coordinator or stop by the Information Desk during the conference and let them know you’re a willing Angel.

SCHOLARSHIPS


We are pleased to be able to offer scholarships to those that need assistance. Scholarship money is made available through fundraising efforts and support from the Women of Wisdom community. Please take the time to answer a few questions on the scholarship application regarding your needs. Also, if you are able, please consider doing some work exchange toward this scholarship and also send us a Work Exchange application.


WOW Scholarship Application


Scholarships are based solely on financial need and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. We encourage you to sign up as early as possible since the number of scholarships is limited. Submission of an application does not guarantee a scholarship award.


Please return the following to WOW no later than January 22nd: Registration form with your workshop choices; your scholarship application indicating the amount you are requesting; and, if you can do work exchange, the work exchange application.


In addition to your forms, please send in whatever payment you are able to make. We are sometimes unable to accommodate all scholarship requests for a workshop, please be sure to indicate the priority order of the workshops you are requesting on your registration form. We will do all we can to enable you to attend your higher priority workshops. You will be notified no later than February 1st as to the status of your application. In the event that a scholarship is not awarded to you, you will be responsible for the balance of your registration, or we will return any payment deposit you have made.
