You can register for individual events or the weekend packages.


All half-day workshops are $35 for members, $45 for non-members, $25 for seniors 65 years or older, $25 for students (with student id cards), and $5 for teens age 13-18. Exceptions noted for featured presenters.


All workshops are open to young women 13 years old and above, except as noted on the individual workshops. Parental permission forms are required if attending without a parent/legal guardian. Download a parental permission form here.

These workshops and In the Rounds will be held at the North Seattle Community College in the College Center/ Administration Building. The evening events will be held at Seattle First Baptist Church.

Dr. Jean Houston, scholar, philosopher and researcher in human capacities, is one of the foremost visionary thinkers and doers of our time, one of the principal founders of the Human Potential Movement. A powerful and dynamic speaker, she holds conferences and seminars with social leaders, educational institutions and business organizations worldwide. Jean Houston has worked intensively in 40 cultures and 100 countries helping to enhance and deepen their own uniqueness while they become part of the global community. In 1965, along with her husband Dr. Robert Masters, Dr. Houston founded The Foundation for Mind Research. She is also the founder and principal teacher since 1984 of the Mystery School, a school of human development, a program of cross-cultural, mythic and spiritual studies, dedicated to teaching history, philosophy, the New Physics, psychology, anthropology, myth and the many dimensions of human potential. She also leads an intensive program in Social Artistry with leaders coming from all over the world to study with Dr. Houston and her distinguished associates. As advisor to the United Nations in human and cultural development, she has worked to implement some of their extensive educational and health programs. Explore the dynamic power of old, new and contemporary rhythms of drumming music that moves and regenerates energy for inner peace, joy and multi-level rejuvenation. Drumming has always been a modality of our ancestors and is used by contemporary sound healers and musicians to assist and facilitate Mind-Body Holistic Wellness. Rhythms That Move You ~ The Art and Spirit of Drumming is a high energy intensive workshop that will be of interest to drum circle facilitators, musicians, drum and percussion ensembles, new and experienced drummers, sound healers, healthcare providers, energy workers, community organizers and classroom teachers. Join us in the discovery and direct experience of how drumming music rejuvenates and restores our Divine connection to the core of our Essential Self. All are welcome wherever you are in the world of rhythm. All levels, all hand drums and percussion welcome. Participants must bring own instruments.


Ubaka Hill, visionary, motivational leader, has been a performer of percussion, poetry and song for over 30 years since the age of 17 and a teacher of hand drumming for over 25 years! Ubaka is a nationally known and respected performing artist and teacher of hand drumming for all ages and especially for the liberation and reclaiming of the sustainable power of women and girls. She is a strong advocate of the power of re-mything and redefining ourselves for a new paradigm. Ubaka is the founder and Musical Director of the Drumsong Orchestra and The ShapeShifters Ensemble. Founder of the first Museum and Archives of Women's Drumming Traditions. Ubaka has envisioned and initiated the first Million Women Drummers Gathering 2013, a global initiative currently being organized in many local communities. She was the visionary, co-founder/co-producer of The Happen'n, the first all women's drum camp on the east coast. Her teaching skills, generosity of knowledge, information and encouragement has inspired the development of other women's drum camps in the US and Canada, drumming groups and women-owned business related to the needs of drummers.


She has recently invited to be on the Advisory Council of the Women's Leadership Center of the Omega Institute. Ubaka has received many special recognitions and City proclamations. You may have seen her performance or participated in her Drumsong workshop at many well known national women's music festivals, sacred music festivals, world music festivals, and conferances and in documentary films such as Radical Harmonies. She is also singing and drumming in the DVD documentary of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers, at their first gathering meeting in upstate New York.


Ubaka has 3 music CDs : ShapeShifters, Dance The Spiral Dance and her latest CD called, Beyond The Wind, each CD is a vibrant authentic tapestry of rhythmic music, poetry and songs. All of her recordings include many skilled, multi-cultural musicians of various instruments and women of her Drumsong workshops from across the United States, The Drumsong Orchestra. Ubaka's music is message music to massage the mind, body and spirit.

Explore the layers of your life through fiber as you fuse together layers of fabric, yarn, found objects and mementos to build a vibrant expression of your heart's desires and your true self. With fiber materials, paint and words we will explore our past, present and future. Using fabric allows for a tactile experience as we rip, shred, and cherish the precious. You will bring home with you not only a work of art, but also a deeper understanding of who you are in this world. You can bring little mementos, tiny found objects, or personal fabric to add to the fabric, paint and design elements provided.


Emily Dykstra is a fiber artist, committed to helping people access their creativity. She also has nearly two decades of experience empowering people to enhance their lives through social service. Cathy Sims is a life coach on a mission to help people transform their lives. The Power of Ceremony ~ Restoring the Sacred in Our Lives

Develop a closer relationship to Earth, Spirit, and our fellow human beings through discovering ceremony. Using seven principles from "The Power of Ceremony: Restoring the Sacred in Our Selves, Our Families, Our Communities" – Listening, Intention, Preparation, Structure, Symbols, Prayer, and the Unexpected, you can begin building your own personal or family ceremony based on your particular spiritual orientation. Three basic types of ceremony -- healing, transition, and celebration -- are reviewed, as is the concept of "liminality". We will write, sing, and drum as we create ceremony.


Linda Neale, LMFT, LPC is a writer, and a licensed marriage and family therapist who is married to a Native elder and has participated in native ceremonies for over 30 years. In 1991 she founded the Earth & Spirit Council, a nonprofit educational organization in Portland, Oregon. Her recent book, The Power of Ceremony: Restoring the Sacred in Our Selves, Our Families, Our Communities, was published in April, 2011, by Eagle Spirit Press. Linda integrates ceremony into her therapeutic work and has dedicated her life to helping people develop ceremonies that heal feelings of separation in modern society. Linda's extensive ceremonial work overlaps the circles of deep ecology, Native American spiritual traditions, women's spirituality, and depth psychology. Erica has taught and presented at local hospitals, cancer support groups and the University of Washington, and is an instructor of the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course. Fire and Wings ~ Ignite Your Passions and Take Flight

We all have it – some aspect of our lives that is keeping us from fully living our dreams. It could be negative core beliefs, addictive behaviors, reactive emotions, job or relationship woes, etc. But really wouldn't you rather soar? Join us for a spiritual, movement exploration that combines dance, meditation, ritual, and journaling. We'll use Fire to connect with the positive process of destruction, as well as the energy and passion that propels our life's flight. We'll spread our Wings to connect with our ability to let our dreams take flight. In this workshop, participants will rise from the ashes of what they discard and let their inner phoenix soar. Deborah DuPey has studied Nia, African and East Asian Dance, and Ecstatic Dance and has led movement workshops to a diversity of audiences in the United States and in Central America. She uses art, writing and meditation to help others heal from emotional trauma and has designed healing retreats for homeless women in the U.S. and survivors of Civil War in Central America. Join us for this forum on transgendered women to have an open and honest discussion about what it means to be a transgendered woman in our world. We'll share our wisdom, and answer questions about how we can welcome transgendered women into our circles and into society in general.


Hosted by: Katie-Lynn Harrison, a transsexual woman and member of the 2012 Women of Wisdom conference planning committee. Katie-Lynn is active in the trans community and in two area Christian churches. She is retired from 33 plus years in real estate sales, and is a licensed in home care giver.

In this fun workshop, we will tone, chant, and sing your way into greater connection with yourself and each other. Using sacred Sanskrit mantras and chants we will dive deep into the powerful sound vibrations that bring healing and transformation easily and gracefully. Be witnessed as the Divine Goddess you are as we run Sacred Sound through our bodies. Facilitated by Jennifer Sundstrom and her harmonium (Indian squeeze box), we will warm up our instruments and dive deep into the potent vibrations of sound. Bring a cushion to sit on, and water.


Jennifer Sundstrom is an herbalist In the Wise Woman Tradition, and Sadhak on the path of sound. Jennifer offers classes on various herbal topics, and Sounds Healing workshops in the greater Seattle area. Karen Fletcher, MPH, is a certified qigong teacher and personal student of Grandmaster Xu Mingtang, who is the lineage holder of ZY Qigong, a self-development system steeped in Buddhism, Daoism and Shamanism. She has trained with Grandmaster Xu at Shaolin monastery in China and traveled worldwide as his assistant. Karen is also the founding President of ZY Qigong non-profit, a student of and interpreter for Master Chinese doctor, Dr. Zhao Fuxue, and an applicant for the upcoming 2012-13 Fulbright Scholarship to study in China for 1 year. Born into a very traditional Norwegian family culture, Kathleen Hjørdis Knudsen was discouraged from expressing her ‘intuitive’ experiences, aware of the‘knowings’ she felt, but ignoring the path that called her to use her intuitive knowing in a direct manner. In crisis at age 44, Kathleen finally was able to allow herself to flow with the intuitive aspects within her, now a certified hypnotherapist, animal communicator, and Health/Medical Intuitive, having trained with Linda Eastburn of International Academy of Intuitive Arts.
