Thank you for your interest in our Work Exchange program for the 2017 Women of Wisdom Conference, February 16th – 20th
These positions are available for Work Exchange: Pre-Conference, Concessions, Tickets, Girl Friday, Ambassador, and Load in/Load out. Four (4) Volunteer Hours = Three (3) Workshop Hours.
Pre-Conference Volunteers work before the conference includes but is not limited to making copies, cutting out pages, organizing presenter supply boxes & registration supplies, & other misc. office work.
Concession Volunteers will maintain the concession area, restock food, coffee, filtered water and hot water for tea, and keep the area clean, and provide provide customer service.
Evening Ticket Volunteers will work to check people in with their tickets, and provide customer service.
Art Show will work to help set up the art show on Friday, and take down Monday, plus manage art sales.
Silent Auction - Help with set up Friday, plus set up for evening events, and clean up Monday.
Girl Friday Volunteers - some positions will require to be on your feet for up to 4 hours and lift 20lbs. Most of this work will be providing physical assistance to the WOW Conference.
Ambassador Volunteer is someone who might have physical limitations. Most of this work will be seated in one place to provide information and customer support to the WOW Conference in addition to be a greeter at the door!
Load In/Load Out Volunteers are available to help set up and close the WOW Conference. There is a need for some volunteers to be able to be on their feet possibly up to 4 hours and lift up to 25lbs. Assistance needed Friday afternoon, Feb. 17th, and early Saturday morning Feb. 18th for set up and Monday afternoon for clean up, Feb. 20th. Other times might be needed for set up, such as Thursday afternoon to move supplies from the office to the college.
Work Exchange hours are available in exchange for half of the price of a featured presenter workshop. Scholarships can also be combined to help cover your costs. You are responsible for any remaining amount as well as any materials fees. For featured workshops, 3 – 9 hours of Work Exchange is required depending on the workshop. The Volunteer Coordinator will work out the exact details with you.
Pre-Conference Office Assistant Volunteers: If you wish to work as a Pre-Conference Office Assistant, please apply online by January 11th. Conference Volunteers (Concessions, Tickets, Girl Friday, Ambassador, Load In/Out): Apply online by January 27, 2017 to make sure you get the shifts / workshops you're hoping for. We’re asking all those interested in being a volunteer to attend The Volunteer Training. This training will explain volunteer expectations, go over specific roles, and be an opportunity for meeting other volunteers. This training is scheduled for Feb. 7th, from 7:30 – 9:00 PM at the Shoreline Library.
If you agree to do Work Exchange, you will be asked to sign a contract; solidifying your time commitment to WOW, which is essential for the Conference to run smoothly. If you do not fulfill the hours that are needed for your event selections, you will be required to pay the difference to Women of Wisdom.
